Softball

Football was fantastic!! Thank you to all the new and established members who turned out on a beautiful September Sunday to play a rousing game of footy. I was most impressed as I leaned on my crutches and watched from the sidelines....wishing I could play!!

This month we're back to the softball diamond. Sunday 17 October, noon-1:30 in Edinburgh Gardens, corner Jamieson St and Alfred Crescent. No equipment or experience necessary as all will be provided/explained. Followed by lunch at the N. Fitzroy Arms pub, corner Ray and Reid streets from 1:30.

Footy!

You've been asking for it and in September SD is delivering on the promise: we're playing touch footy, of the AFL variety, at Albert Park. 19 September, 11-12:30 or so, then lunch at Hot Honey.

Join us in the park, just inside from the Middle Park tram stop off Canterbury Rd. Walk around the tennis courts to the right and you can't miss us. Dogs welcome as long as they can behave around other dogs and you keep them under control.

Basketball

Badminton was a rousing success, once again thanks to the efforts of our partners for the event, the Yellow Kitties. Thank you everybody for your enthusiasm and for making everyone feel welcome!

Our next event is basketball, again to be held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Sunday 18 July from 11:30-1:00. If at all possible, can you bring a basketball with you? Hopefully MSAC will have some to rent as well but last year we were caught short.

All experience levels welcome - from national champions to absolute beginners. Afterwards, we can talk about how great we were over a lovely lunch at Hot Honey in Middle Park.

Badminton

Despite a fairly serious injury to the best goalie, SD soccer was a rousing success! Thank you everybody for your enthusiasm and effort on the day - it was lovely to meet a whole new group of people and to welcome back many who have played with us in the past.

For the winter, we're moving indoors, starting on 20 June with badminton! We have 4 courts reserved at MSAC from 12-1:30 so everybody should get a good chance to play. Bring your own equipment if you have it - and some to share if possible. Otherwise, we hope to rent equipment and pass around the racquets available on the day. NO experience necessary! But we do ask for a $5 donation to pay for the court and racquet hire.

Afterwards, we'll adjourn to Hot Honey on Armstrong St for lunch.

Hope to see you all there!

Soccer

Tennis in April was a rousing success!! Thank you to TJ, Chris and Rachel from the Ace Girls tennis group for providing coaching and drills to everybody, from the most advanced to the beginners. 28 women enjoyed a beautiful day in the sun and then a lovely lunch to follow.

Join the Sporties on 23 May from 11:30-1 as we test our foot-eye coordination with a game of soccer. We'll also have expert instruction from a member of the Melbourne Rovers so don't worry if you're not very good at this!

Albert Park, just behind MART cafe and the Middle Park tram stop. Then join us for lunch at Hot Honey.
